The Institute for Chronically Traumatized Children organizes open registration workshops all over the world (see calendar).
The ICTC can also provide in-company workshops and presentations on the Sleeping Dogs® method or customized for teams working with children in foster or residential care. Customized workshops or presentations can also cover topics such as the effect of domestic violence and sexual abuse and chronic traumatization on children and families, the treatment of chronically traumatized children, dissociation and the assessment and treatment of dissociative disorders in children, attachment, the use of EMDR in children, trauma treatment and the use of EMDR in infants 0-4 years, the assessment of children with (suspected) sexual abuse, trauma-informed safety planning conversational techniques and systemic intervention with perpetrator-parents, working with denial and disputed abuse, and creating Trauma Healing Stories.

Sleeping Dogs Trauma Specialist

Individual practitioners can become certified as Sleeping Dogs Trauma Specialist. The training program to become a certified Sleeping Dogs trauma specialist in competency bases and has three levels:

Treating Chronically Traumatized Children
(Sleeping Dogs Level I) one- or two-day workshop. This workshop gives an introduction to the method and the interventions and participants are able to use the Sleeping Dogs method after this workshop and reading the book. However, the more practice, the more this method is used effectively. After the training, participants can join a supervision group or participate in individual supervision.

Sleeping Dogs Level II
workshop. This two-day workshop focuses on practicing the method with difficult and stuck cases and using the interventions. The content of the workshop depends on the participants experiences and needs and can be customized. Topics such as how to motivate children, how to discuss acknowledgement and responsibility with perpetrator-parents and how to work with traumatized parents with limited abilities can be covered.

Sleeping Dogs Level III.
This level consists of a series of competency-based sessions and the completion of a number of Sleeping Dogs treatments for chronically traumatized children in different age ranges with a variety of different problems. Clinicians work on their own goals in the context of their own practice to become certified as Sleeping Dogs Trauma Specialist. This can be done individually or in a team or group.

Consultation or supervision

The Institute for Chronically Traumatized Children offers supervision or consultation on complex cases. This can be done Face to Face, by Skype or by phone, individual or in groups.
Arianne Struik is also an EMDR Consultant for adults and children accredited by EMDR Europe, EMDRAA and EMDR NZ.

Trauma-focused Sleeping Dogs Organisations

Organisations can also become certified as a Trauma-focused Sleeping Dogs Organisation.
The ICTC can assist organizations such as residential facilities, Foster Care, Child Protection or Mental Health Services with implementing trauma-informed and trauma-focused treatment with the Sleeping Dogs method or develop a customised implementation package of training and supervision and practise
